Daniel Compton of Santa Cruz defeated Alfonso Pitolo of Hawaii at Tuff-N-Uff 130 on Saturday at Circa’s Galaxy Ballroom in Las Vegas.
After Compton won by submission in the third round, he left the Octagon to confront some of Pitolo’s fans sitting cageside. Pandemonium ensued and the announcer asked the crowd to leave the venue immediately.
Mmanews.com reported that it was unclear if any punishments will be issued as a result of the post-fight brawl.
Compton (7-2-0) has won four straight fights and climbed to No. 7 in the California Tapology Pro Men’s Middleweight Rankings. He is 20th in the West Pro rankings and 77th in the United States
Alfonso Pitolo (15-10), competing out of Hawaii, previously competed in the UFC and Bellator MMA.
Holy Cross Turkey Trot: Santa Cruz’s Julian Sunn and Rebecca Paten claimed victories in the 10-kilometer race at the 2022 Santa Cruz Turkey Trot on Saturday.
The race started and finished on Delaware Street, by the back entrance of Natural Bridges.
Sunn finished in 34:45. Santa Cruz’s Alexander Wallach took second in 35:53, and Albany’s Zachary Lorimann (36:01) took third.
Paten was the fastest female, seventh overall in 38:57. Mackenzie Deeter of Santa Cruz (39:37) and Simone Ange Winkler (41:16) rounded out the top three girls.
Redwood City’s Chris Charekien (16:34) edged Santa Cruz’s Benthan Vu (16:34) for the 5K title in a photo finish. Pierre Meunier of Santa Cruz (17:06) was third.
Santa Cruz’s Valerie Thorp (19:34) took 11th overall and was the top female finisher. Sarah Kletzer of Santa Cruz (20:04) and Hronn Gudmundsdottir of San Carlos (20:43) rounded out the top three girls.
At UC Santa Cruz 72, Caltech 67: Tyler Kessinger scored 15 points and teammate Zino Okah added 14 points in the Banana Slugs’ win at Kaiser Permanente Arena on Sunday.
Avri Finch had 13 points and 15 rebounds for UCSC, and Treyson Keating scored 10 points.
Pavlos Stavrinides and Chase Pagon each scored 14 points to lead the Beavers (1-4).
The Banana Slugs (3-1) play at Menlo (6-2) of Atherton on Tuesday at 7:30 p.m.
UCSC 77, at Cal Maritime 46: Amanda Inserra, Lilli Hammons and Talysha Wilkerson each scored 12 points to help the Banana Slugs (5-0) to victory Sunday in Vallejo.
Kaylee Murphy had 10 points, 16 rebounds and a pair of blocks, and Ashley Kowack also had 10 points.
Alicia Porter had a game-high 31 points and nine rebounds to lead the Keelhaulers (0-4), who played with just six players.
