Executive honored to lead Exo’s business growth and further its mission to bring medical imaging everywhere
SANTA CLARA, California, November 22, 2022–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Exo (pronounced “echo”), a pioneering medical imaging software and device company, today announced that its Chief Financial Officer, Lori Muñoz, has been recognized with a Bronze Stevie Award in the healthcare category of the 2022 Stevie Awards for Women in Business. Munoz is recognized for her significant contributions to Exo’s monumental business growth and ultimately accelerating its mission to put medical imaging in the hands of every caregiver.
Since joining Exo in July 2020, Munoz has played a pivotal role in supporting Exo’s growth, leading key fundraising and M&A efforts. In August 2020, Muñoz led Exo’s Series B extension round, securing $40 million from lead investors Fiscus Ventures and Reimagined Ventures (affiliated with Magnetar Capital) and Action Potential Venture Capital and Marques investors, including Intel Capital, among others. Less than a year later, he led the company’s Series C round, raising $220 million in capital in a round led by RA Capital Management and joined by BlackRock, Sands Capital, Avidity Partners and Pura Vida Investments. The $260 million funding from these two rounds enabled Exo to commercialize its point-of-care ultrasound workflow solution, Exo Works, in March 2022 and further develop its device high-performance handheld ultrasound and its artificial intelligence (AI) platform.
In addition to leading Exo’s fundraising efforts, Muñoz has also been instrumental in Exo’s M&A strategy. In July 2022, he spearheaded Exo’s acquisition of Medo.ai, a Canadian AI technology developer. Exo is now incorporating Medo’s proprietary AI technology into its ultrasound platform to make it easier for any caregiver to capture and interpret a medical image, fueling ultrasound adoption and ultimately driving better outcomes for patients
“Building a powerful medical imaging ecosystem takes a village, and Exo is incredibly fortunate to have Lori in our corner to help execute our mission to bring medical imaging everywhere,” said Sandeep Akkaraju, CEO and founder of Exo. “Lori’s tenacity, intelligence and dogged commitment to our company’s mission make her such a valuable part of our team. She is incredibly deserving of this award.”
